State Bank of India has released the much awaited SBI PO Notification 2021 on its official website https://www.sbi.co.in/. A total of 2056 vacancies for probationary officers in SBI have been notified on 04 October 2021. Eligible candidates can apply online for SBI PO 2021 from 05 October 2021 to 25 October 2021. SBI PO 2021 Eligibility
The eligibility criteria to apply for the SBI PO 2021 are-
Graduation: Completed degree in any discipline, as on Dec 31, 2021
Age Limit: to be within 21 & 30 years as on April 1, 2021 (OBC: +3yrs, SC/ST: +5 yrs)
Are you a loan defaulter? If you had taken any home loan, personal loan, educational loan & defaulted in repayment (not paying the monthly installments) – you are not eligible to apply for SBI PO.
Number of Chances: There is a limit on the number of times a person can appear for the SBI PO 2021.
The chances for different categories are-
- General – 4 chances
- OBC – 7
- SC/ ST – No restriction
The no. of attempts should be counted from the exam held on April 18, 2010. Appearing in preliminary examination will not be counted as a chance.
SBI PO 2021 Exam Pattern
SBI PO 2021 is a three-tier exam – Preliminary exam, main exam followed by Group Discussion & Personal Interview.
SBI PO 2021 Prelims Exam Pattern
Preliminary Examination consists of objective tests for 100 marks and is conducted online. This test is of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Note: Candidates have to qualify the test by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. An adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 10 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) are shortlisted for the Main Examination.
SBI PO 2021 Main Exam Pattern
SBI PO 2021 Main Examination consists of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests is online. Candidates have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of the Objective Test, Descriptive Test is administered.

Note: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks is a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in the objective test.
Penalty for wrong answers: There is penalty for wrong answers for both – Preliminary and Main examination. For each objective type question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question.
SBI PO 2021 Group Discussion and Interview
This is phase 3 of SBI PO recruitment which comprises of Group Exercises (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks). First, the aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test of SBI PO Main Exam, are arranged in descending order for each category. The adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank is called for Group Exercises and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview are decided by the Bank.
SBI PO 2021 Selection Process
It is a three stage recruitment process namely: Prelims, Mains and G.D and Interview. The final merit list is prepared by considering the mains examination marks and GD/Interview marks in the 75 : 25 ratio.
